A hair cut and a bath can only mean one thing, right?
Photoshoot!
We met up with the lovely Liz Bradley over the weekend for Nelson's rescue pawtraits. A huge hug, tail wags and some nose kisses to Liz for always being available to take these amazing photos of my fosters for their Petfinder profiles. I've said it before and I'll say it again: professional photos truly do bring in more adoption inquiries. Look for a blog post about that in the future.
And that adorable sweater? Feverishly made by a blog reader, Annette.
I first met Annette in May 2011 when she and her family applied to adopt Wookie and another Hopeful Hearts dog, Poppy. It quickly became apparent that barky pants Wookie was not the right match, but Poppy was perfect. It all worked out for the best since we ended up adopting Wookie ourselves, and Poppy has had an amazing almost two years with Annette and her family. We have stayed in touch since, and Annette has knitted countless sweaters for my foster monsters and for other Hopeful Hearts dogs to make sure they're warm during the cold winter months.

He looks smashing in his sweater!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't he, though?
DeleteOh my gosh, it took me a minute but I did manage to pick up my chin off the key-board after reading this latest blog of yours, Mel! What can I say, I love knitting, and dog sweaters are finished a lot quicker than that sweater my 6 foot tall daughter keeps asking me to knit for her. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe pictures of Nelson are awesome! And he looks very handsome in red!
I definitely think red is his color! Thank you again so much for knitting him sweaters. It has sure come in handy these past few days.
DeleteBeautiful sweater! and super handsome doggy!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteAs a fledgling knitter, I might just try a dog sweater. At least they won't complain if it looks a bit "wonky"! What beautiful photos. I wish I lived closer to Ottawa so I could take my fosters to Liz for their adoption bio pictures....it would make such a huge difference in generating interest.
ReplyDeleteThere are likely photographers in your area who would love to donate their time to help animals in need -- maybe they just don't know who to contact! Maybe the group you foster for could post something on their facebook page?
