Nelson's first bath (and some bribery).

Last week, Operation Remove Stitches was a great success thanks to the magical healing powers of Polysporin. With the stitches gone, we were finally given the green light to go ahead and do something I have been wanting to do ever since Nelson arrived.

Bath time.

To say that Nelson was less than impressed would be an understatement (check out the death glare in the picture on the left) but he handled it like a champ, especially considering that prior to bath time, he withstood almost an hour of being groomed (he had a lot of mats).

After bath time he ran around like a kid who raided a candy store -- I've never seen him so happy -- and of course he bumped into a few things during his zoomies. The vet confirmed that Nelson does indeed have cataracts so his vision is limited, but Nelson is adapting so well now that you would hardly even know, except when he gets really excited and throws caution to the wind.

The best part of bath time? Post bath time treats.

I found a recipe online last week and made these peanut butter & cranberry doggy treats. Suffice it to say, Nelson and I were best buds after.

  1. He's all floofy!! So sweet!

I love bathing my dogs just to see them do the zoomies afterwards...hehe :) Mine are so funny, I bathe one dog at a time and the others get all excited to see the bathed one come out of the bath. They know there will be zoomies! And they encourage each other. So much entertainment.

    1. Yes, the zoomies are definitely the best part. And my guys do such a good job of rubbing on everything that they dry themselves very quickly - no need to dry them myself. :)

  4. I know that death stare - I get from Rubie every Sunday afternoon when she is in the tub!

After bath liver treats help to smooth over things!
