Bulimic schnauzer.

Ever since Wookie joined our dysfunctional family last year he has been a barfer (and then he eats it - but we won't get into that). Every week, without fail, he throws up. Sometimes twice a week. Even more if it's the summertime.

We changed his food but that made it worse. We visited the vet and he received a clean bill of a health there, so we chalked it up to summer heat but remained confused for the remaining 9 months of the year.

Then we (mostly me) came to the brilliant conclusion that maybe, just maybe, it was his bowls -- or rather, it was the way he ate because of his bowls. So we looked around for a raised feeder that both Hallday and Wookie could use, but found nothing to our liking that fit within our budget.

But the barf gods were on our side as we stumbled upon Barking Bone Designs at the Hopeful Hearts holiday bazaar last month. We placed our custom order (size, style, colors, bowls) and two weeks later we had this adorable dog feeder sitting in the dining room.

I'm happy to say that it's been almost 2 weeks now since Wookie threw up - a record of sorts - and I think we finally solved the issue.

Barking Bone Designs is based in the Ottawa/Gatineau area, and not only are their prices very reasonable ($85.00 for this beauty) but they also give back to the animal rescue world by donating gift certificates to Birch Haven and Sit With Me rescues for their latest online auctions. Suffice it to say, I'm in love.

  5. Holy cow! I've been looking for a raised feeder for Lola Pug, and I just haven't been able to find The One that I want. This is ideal! Thanks! I'll tell them that Wookie sent me!

    1. I really like the fact that the entire thing can be customized. That's what sold us.
